...get 90 millions in 90 days to address the humanitarian emergency in the Horn of Africa!

I was thinking on that about a month ago when I was aware of the problem of the African people of that region. I had an idea that seemed to be crazy (back then) and decided to step forward. Now I try to make people understand it, and hope that more people will become aware of the problem, because when that happens they will donate 2€ or more. Luckily for the people suffering in Africa that is happening more often. At day 2 we were just 5 crazies and now we are more than 40 members in the team.

People continuously tell me lot of reasons why this will not work but I want to share with you why this initiative really matters:

1) The global crisis: now it is not a good time to ask for money
Don't ask your friends for money, tell them that you are part of this, explain them the reasons and let them judge if it deserves their money and effort.
If crisis does not allow them to donate 2€, please do not do it, it does not make sense to give away the money that they really need, maybe the will be able to help in the next crisis.

2) The Problem is far away and people think it does not affect them.
Yes, the problem is far away, I have never been to Africa, not even close so it does not affect me. I not doing this because it affects me I am doing it because I know I can do something about it, and lot of people can also, and many somethings will add to change history.

3) You have set an impossible goal: 90 millions in 90 days sounds good but it is almost impossible. So you will never have the "we are so close" effect that will move people to join close to the deadline.
This is a global initiative, it will reach there where the social networks reach, that is up to 500 million people. We are growing globally and this week we are pushing hard in this direction.
We set ambitious weekly targets in order to be closer to the goal every week. We do not look to the goal line, we will get there for sure. Who would have bet that after 4 weeks we would have reached 12.00€?
If we keep the pace, that is, every new person joining us convinces three each week, every week we will triple the collected amount. For one person to convince another three it is not a big deal, but it does require that each person feels part of this (because once you donate you are part of it). Some people will convince a hundred meanwhile others may not convince anyone.
Doing some math, we get:

• Lea assume that we end week #5 with 13.000
• So on week #6 will have 39.000
• Week #7  117.000 (we will have funded two NGO projects by this time)
• Week # 8  351.000
• Week #9  1.053.000
• Week #10  3.159.000
• Week #11 9.477.000
• Week #12 28.431.000
• And on week #13, the last one, 85.293.000€

Yes, we will not make it but I believe that we will be able to do lot of things, don't you think?
