Day 22, 2,809.95 (Day 28’s objective: 7,500€)

Yesterday was a crazy day. And we love that! We beat our visit’s record (2,771 for Spanish + 70 for English); we had our first donation in pounds; we got 24 donations via Paypal (new record!); the well-known Spanish newspaper El País talked about us; and we improved our quality (we’ll talk about that tomorrow ;)).

We’ve already learned a lesson, but we’re still ambitious :) The theoretical objective would be 6,124€, but the whole crew (now we’re 22 people) agrees that we must try to reach 7,500€. But, of course, with your help!

Regarding the magazine on the pic, it costs 2€ and we love that you buy magazines, this one or whichever, don’t stop doing that. But we also love that you remember us and Africa when reading one.

Yesterday was an exciting day. And to think that just 3 weeks and some hours ago, this blog didn’t even exist…

Day 21, €2,592.29 Unfulfilled objective

Good afternoon everyone!

First of all, we must apologize. It’s been a hectic day and we didn’t have the opportunity to post this before.

As you all may see, we’re far away from the objective we aimed to achieve, €4,000. Many comments can be made about this. Let us start with bad news: only a 65% of the intended sum has been accomplished. An explanation of this is the fact that we, being excited about last week’s success, have set a really ambitious goal. Another reason is that some fields are being structured more slowly than we’d like to (firms, international, volunteering). Not to forget an administrative process, intended to receive considerable donations, which is still to be solved.
Along came good news: on the one hand, the quantity set for week 3 has been raised (total: € 2,109). On the other, the fact of us not being able to raise the auto-imposed amount has injected us a huge dose of energy and willingness to keep on working! We hope so has done with you!
We’ve started the week really willingly. Why? Because an article about our initiative has been published on the blog 3.500 millones of the Spanish newspaper El País. Varignia Montalbetty has kindly illustrated it with a beautiful picture of Africa. I bet El Pais is happy about the article, since it has received a good number of visits from readers. And of course, we are happy too, because the number of people aware of this problem and keen to help with their €2 is increasing unstoppably!
Today the number of visits in our blog has gone beyond 2000, and the number of facebook and twitter followers doesn’t stop increasing! Bugamark has written about us on its main page; we’ve been really talked about on twitter this morning (If only we were tending toping once…); two mass media have contacted us to write a piece of information about us; there are 21 people comprising this team now; people from Colombia have offered to set up a campaign in their country; we are quite close to set an agreement with a NGO…  The bases needed to grow up are being established! However, we’re missing a sportsman/woman, singer actor/actress willing to help us.

We’re enormously thankful to every single person who’s decided to click on the “donate” button above. These little steps are making history!

Before ending, I’d just like to remind you that, once your donation is credited, it is vital to tell the people around you (either in internet or in real life) about this initiative. Let them know the problem and then suggest them clicking too if they wish to do so.

Thanks so much for your trust.

How are we doing it?

In this video, we explain how we are working in order to get 90 million in 90 days to fight famine in Africa. You'll see that you need to get a little bit involved.

Thanks a million!

20th day, 2,551.74€, weak day

Good morning!

Yesterday, Saturday, we had a low quantity of visits and donations compared to previous days: 482 visits and 71.51€ in donations.

Since weekends tend to be somehow “weak”, we would like people to remember every Monday until the end of the year that we must keep fighting against famina, so tomorrow we will intensify our campaign in Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. If you use twitter, our dream is that  "#90mn90d” becomes trending topic every Monday. Will you help us?

A packet of 12 toilet rolls costs a little bit over 2€. You will for sure think of  90 million when you use it ;)
We will soon upload our first appearance on TV, in which Ricardo García Arenillas explains the initiativei a clear way. Don’t miss it!

Thanks for being there!

First appearance on TV!

Intereconomia Business has been the first media willing to give us voice and image to spread our initiative of help for  the Horn of Africa “90 million in 90 days”. Thank you so much!

19th day - 2,480.23€: everyone is included

Morning everyone!

We're close to reach our objective: 4,000€. But we need some additional support. We hope we had a nice surprise at the end of the week.

Yesterday we uploaded a pic of “a liter of olive oil” donated by Glòria Orpinell, volunteer in “El mundo al revés”. It’s over 2€ per liter.

Some time ago we noticed that they talked about us in Forocoches. We have tried to sign in there, but you cannot do it without an invitation. We would love that someone invited us, in order to inform everyone there how the things are going with the initiative. So if you can, please invite us in contact (at) 90mn90d.com.

This week, corporation’s donations have increased. At the beginning, they did not give us a financial support, but this has changed. We need to point out that the Colombian NGO CORPDESAN has also made its donation. We would like to thank everyone. For further details, you can go to “Donors”.

We’ve been asked some times whether we’re related with some media, with any political party, corporation or religion… The answer is a categorical ‘no’. We think that everyone must be included in this initiative. Since this affirmation is quite important, we have added it to our statutes. We’ll be so grateful with any media, politician or religious leader if they give us the chance to talk about our initiative, but we don’t want to be associated with anyone. Everyone is included, everyone is welcome!

Surprisingly, a few days ago we were mentioned in Forocoches. We tried to sign up but it is only possible through invitation. We would like to be invited to inform about the progress of the initiative. If you can, please, invite us at contact(at)90mn90d.com.

18th day: 2,183.52€

Morning everyone!!!

Today we've have exceeded the 2,000€!!! It took us 13 days to reach 1,000€, and just 5 to 2,000€. How long will it take to reach 3,000€? Will we reach 4,000€ by 23th October (21st day of the initiative)? This is possible, it's up to us. As always, we need all of you!

And just to remind you: Intereconomia (Spanish TV channel) has invited us to attend their program! We'll be at the same time in the Intereconomia Business (TV program) and Intereconomia Radio (radio program), today 21st Octobre, form 10am on.

And that's it for today: brevity is the soul of wit! ;)

17th day: 1,925.06€ (21st day’s aim: 4,000€)

Morning everyone!!

The amount of donations on Monday was not too high. So our aim of getting 4,000€ by the 21st day is becoming a challenge! But together, we can. Let’s see: we have 140 followers on Facebook (or 155 on Twitter). If each of these achieve 2 donations a day, we can do it. It’s easy, because together we can! We need all your help.

In the meanwhile, we keep on working in different ways. For instance:
We have signed in on LinkedIn. This was really exciting: more than 30 friends in just 30 minutes! And now we have 52 friends! Click here to visit the initiative on LinkedIn. In order to spread the initiative worldwide and recruit volunteers, we’re negotiating with Dog Comunicación and we’ve asked MediaCause for help.

People talked about us in four blogs: Muntanyes de sorra fina, el blog de karlossp, todo por la causa y minusvalido.net; in two media: Público y La Voz de Asturias; in the foundation Luis Vives; and in two Facebook groups: El mundo al revés y Corazones Desasignados. A band may perfom a concert in order to collect funds (we’ll give more information as soon as they confirm it). The journalist writing in Africalandia just joined the crew, and with her, we are 15 people. We’re also negotiating with two NGOs, in order to achieve their cooperation and support. Finally, we’re still negotiating with Havás Media and making progress. And, as always, the tireless activity in social networks won’t stop.

We hope tomorrow we have good news!

If it’s the first time you visit us and you want to help, you can donate 2 €, tell everyone you know and visit the blog to be updated. If you want to work with us: volunt (at) 90mn90d.com.

Thanks a million!!

A taste of our philosophy

Good afternoon everyone!!

We’ve been asked several times why we don’t use the images that they usually use in this kind of initiative to get funds for fighting famine. We’d like to explain you the reason.

We understand why those other initiatives use this kind of pictures, but we have a different thinking: we believe that using images of suffering or happiness of the reality from which people suffer in the Horn of Africa can make people make decisions about whether helping or not basing those decisions on other reasons different from those that we promote.

We’d like people to donate 2 euro because we think that everyone using social networks has the opportunity to donate at least once in their life, we want them to feel excited about doing something good, we want that they share this feeling with everybody else, we want them to feel part of this big group that is growing more and more, that they understand that we are doing this for no money.

What we intend is that people reflect on the fact that there are many everyday things which cost more than two euro, for example, the season ticket for the metro, a beer or a pack of cigarettes. Just with this little money we can help to help. We should bear in mind that nothing in our society can be compared to the suffering of African families.

We’re not asking you to stop having a beer; we want you to have that beer, but we want you to think about this initiative, think that you have contributed to help, and share this dream with everyone else. With just 2 euro we can achieve something great: to save lives, change the world and do something that nobody has done before. I couldn’t get this idea out of my mind, and still cannot. We want to share that dream with you, and we want to achieve this dream with you too. I want to share this feeling with all of you, because I think helping is worthy.

We’re just people helping other people, but if we work together, we can achieve great things.

The image above is the first one we posted on our blog. Maybe you have one mouse in your hand right now. We’ll post images of our world, not of their world. We ask you to send us photos, according to this way of thinking, and we’ll post them regularly. Please send them to contact(at) 90mn90d.com.

For further information about what is going on in Africa, we will keep you posted if you’re interested in the section “Info of Africa”.

16th Day: 1,852.48€

Good morning everyone!

Regarding the Collection, what can we say? Today is another day of record! We are still achieving the forecasted growth because you are the best! Thank you very much.

Because… it won’t do you any harm give it a try. Just donating two Euros and then telling our family and friends, we are battling one of the biggest known human tragedies.

As everyday, apart from spreading, we have some things to tell you:
We have published a press release on every media on Spain. Little by little they will wake up and answer. If you work for any of them, you may give us a hand. ;) We are published on the NGO’s directory: Channel of solidarity. We are taking off internationally, and we have more and more foreign visits every day, above all from USA, UK and Chile. We are dealing with a big telephone operator so that it is possible to donate with a message, and the deal cannot be better: the 100% of the cost of the message would be donated. We hope to end it soon. If you want to be updated on everything we make, you can: follow us on Facebook, Twitter, subscribe by email, add us to your RSS feed.

Thank you very much for being part of this!

15th Day, 1,550,85€

Do we start with good or bad news? We won’t let you choose because there is not bad news. They are all good!

The current account incomings arrive with 1 or 2 days of delay, and the PayPal non-commission movements too. We are seeing the others (credit card and PayPal with commissions) immediately. This is why we can say today, we have reached the 1,500€ goal!, if we consider the date when the donation was done. From now on, we will consider the amount on the account, so if we want to reach the goals we decide; we will have to take on mind those two days of offset.

During the weekend and yesterday, at first time in the morning we received some comments about some problems making the bank transfers from “La Caixa”.  These problems are fully solved. Thanks for telling us!

“Intereconomía” has invited us to appear on its program! We will be on TV and Radio at the same time on Friday, the 21st from 10am. We are looking forward to keep on appearing on the media. They are taking us more seriously every day. We are unstoppable!

We have broken a record of daily visits to our website, without having appeared on any media! 1.346 visits, no less. We have already exceeded the 10.000 visits. We have also exceeded 100 followers on Facebook, 1.000 guests on the event we created on Facebook…

And the excitement is so big that we have already set a goal for day 21 of the initiative. Theoretically, it should be 2.109€, so we have immediately thought on something more than the double, 4.500€, and then we have taken a little for those two days of offset on the donations. The goal is to reach 4.000€ the day 21!

To get this we need you, other than doing what you have been doing until now, to talk about us on your company. They may be interested on donating, or collecting. If they donate, we will link them to “Donors”. We do it almost everyday! A lot of gossip people take a look on that.

What have we told you? They are all good news. Can you imagine what we mean to the Horn of Africa? We are a stream of happiness.

Thank you.

14th day, 1,409.75€ - 1,500€ goal not reached.

Good morning!
We begin the third week positively, because, though we haven’t reached the 1.500€  goal we have set to day 14, we have stayed really close. Remember that the goal maths gave us was 726€ and we have though of doubling it, increasing it to 1.500€. Do you see the light at the end of the tunnel? We see it clearer than ever!

This is possible. Thank to all of you, for donating and commenting it. You make impossible happen. Thanks for your trust because it makes us bigger. Thanks for helping to battle the hunger in the Horn of Africa.

The team has growth and we make it willingly. Today, we are 14 people! And every person who arrives brings energy, interest and more people to the initiative. Thanks team. You are awesome and make impossible look easier.

If you want to see the numbers with perspective, take a look to the blog’s file, on the left, from bottom to top, beginning with 4€ and growing. It is really impressive. It is born from nothing.

It is time for companies to donate more and to celebrities to join (contact (at) 90mn90d.com). This initiative is totally inclusive, on this matter everyone fits.

Let’s save lives, from two Euros.

13th day: 1,138.55€

Happy Sunday to everyone!

As you all can see, we’ve already surpassed a 1,000 €, this sum being quite close  to 1,500 €, and there’s one day left. This is serious, as serious as the situation of  emergency. Thanks a lot to everyone. Please, don’t stop helping us by spreading the word via Twitter and Facebook.

Yesterday night’s post, the previous one, had 3 wonderful consequences: a  community manager for Facebook and Twitter (Cristina Riveiro); a person who  is willing to help us with all the volunteering section (Karlos San Pedro) and an  increase in the number of people comprising our team: 12 people! Besides, we’ve  attached a video explaining in less than a minute what 90 millions in 90 days is.  You can see all this information on the section Who We Are. We are still lacking of an expert in marketing and a graphic designer.

How can you help us to help Africa? After having donated 2 euros, let the people  around you know about both the horrible situation in the Horn of Africa and this  organization. We need to turn into a social phenomenon that doesn’t let anyone  apart. If you’d like to understand a little bit better the situation in the Horn of Africa, please go to the section “information about Africa”.

Thanks.

First Committee session: first success.

Happy Saturday afternoon!

Yesterday we held a meeting, which was divided into 2 different parts:
-          On the one hand, we had an overall view of this initiative.
-          On the other, we  discussed further every single working field.

I’ll do my best to sum it up.

Overall view of this initiative

We differentiated 4 different stages:
-          Weeks 1-3, birth of the initiative: 2000€ (we are quite confident about us beating  the amount of money proposed. We are headed on the right track)
-          Weeks 4-6, Local confidence : 50.000€
-          Weeks 7-9, Global confidence 1.200.000€
-          Weeks 10-13, the last sprint: 90.000.000€

We need to reinvent ourselves really quickly in order to fulfill all the different  stages. We’ve already started to think of different ways to carry out the fund  collection in every stage, and we’re getting ready for it. We must grow up in  all respects: donations, working team, blog visitors, twitter and Facebook  followers… all of this being softly managed, that is, in a flexible and self-  governing manner.

Once I had the pleasure to work for an important boss who would say: “There  are some things we’ve done which people described as an impossible thing to  do right after we had actually achieved them”. I believe that increasing from 2€  to 2,000€ (a sum a thousand times bigger) is much harder than increasing from  2,000€ to 50,000 € (twenty-five times more). I’m totally convinced that you’ll  make the fulfilling of every stage possible.

It’s incredible what’s been done in 2 weeks. Thanks to you!

Some proposals from the meeting that are worth sharing:

-          The aim is not to raise 90 million euros, but to give a helpful hand to the  really needy in the Horn of Africa. We are quite determined to collect such  amount of money, inasmuch as it is an essential way to achieve the second  objective.
-          To be successful, it is indispensable that every relative or acquaintance  of any donor becomes a donor as well, and that is why it’d be wonderful that  every donor spread the word to friends and relatives. And so on.
-          Every  single tiny donation is a huge step towards people, firms, media, celebrities  and NGOs trusting in us and helping us to achieve our goal.
-          Our appearance  is extremely positive in order to mitigate the state of emergency in the  Horn of Africa. It is important to note that our aim is to spread this information,  not to compete against the rest of NGO’s. We’re trying to incite those who have  never donated to collaborate by giving 2€.
-          Further than beating the current  severe situation, we intend to use the money both in short-term goals  (nourishing, health) and long-term goals (education, infrastructures).  Therefore there will be a wide variety of projects among which you’ll have the  opportunity to decide.

 Working fields monitoring

I don’t want this to be too long, so I’ll sum it up field by field:

-          Marketing and strategy: the basic aim is quite clear, though we are elaborating  it step by step. We could try to develop our strategies a little bit further, but we  need more helping hands. We’d really appreciate a marketing manager and a  graphic designer. We would like to launch merchandising products and original  activities, but we really lack of time. We’re being pretty slow.
-          Media (web, press, radio, TV): our website is working quite well at the  moment, but we’re lacking of a community manager. There are two candidates  right now. We also count on the support of Carmen Thous, an expert in media  communication. We’ve been once on the radio and one in the papers. We’ve  talked to more radio stations and newspapers, and we’re likely to appear on tv.  We’ve broadcasted a video to put it on Youtube (I don’t know if ‘ll dare upload it,  though :D)
-          Contact with NGOs: we’ve established contact with some NGOs. The selection  criteria are well determined and we’re making a list of them. We decided to push  along the NGOs section in the website a bit (this has already been carried out this  morning). This field is quite well attended for the moment.
-          Contact with firms: reactivos? (…) but we’re already working with a firm, and a  donation from another one has been received. Some companies are waiting for  us being able to issue certificates of donation to collaborate. Hopefully this issue  will have been solved by week 3.
-          Contact with celebrities: we haven’t stepped fairly forward in this field, and  therefore there’s a lot to do. The support of a singer, sportsman/woman, actor/  actress is required. There are many ways for them to do so, and even without  compromising their public image. We only need them to get to know us; to  collaborate with us by donating these 2 euros; and to mention us to friends and  relatives. We know that we’re still small, but what we intend to achieve is quite  big, and those joining us will grow up too.
-          International spreading: We’ve launched actions in order to create global  spreading networks. The greatest thing would be to have teams all over the  world (aka. “cells”) made up by, at least, an expert in NGOs and a person really  good at public relations. However, a willingness to help is much more important  than the qualification. We don’t have any cell yet, and volunteers are urged.
-          Management and administration: We’re making slow but firm progress.  Almost every procedure has been completed.
-          Payment: We’re improving the forms of payment. Soon It will be possible to  donate via SMS Premium. Our bank will provide us with payment getaways  so that everyone will be able to use a credit card with fewer fees than Paypal  payments. It seems that some of the money transfers to La Caixa account are  being rejected. We hope to get everything solved on Monday.
-          Volunteering: In yesterday’s committee we agreed on the necessity to set  up a volunteering section on the website. No one is managing it yet, and the  volunteers aren’t well managed either. There’s a lot to improve as to this matter,  and there’s not much time left.

If you have any comment to make or you’d like to help anyway, please address to  contact @ 90mn90d.com

If you managed to reach the bottom of this text, you’re then able to raise 90  millions in 90 days! =D

Thanks :)

12th Day: 973.55€

Morning everyone!!!

We are about to reach 1,000€. Will you help us to do it? The pace we are growing, thanks to your trust, and talking about it to everybody else, give us a lot of strength and energy to keep on going.

Collecting almost 1,000€ in twelve days is something incredible, as Paola (our expert on NGO) told us in our yesterday meeting. She also told us that in the realm of NGO we are getting a lot of relevance because  we was born due to the concern of a "ordinary" person, not related with any NGO organization or project, and many people is helping spontaneously. This has never happen in Spain before.

I think that the most beautiful part is that a lot of people we don't know share our concern and realize that they can donate those two euros without any problem and pass the message. I am also impressed by those people who take one step forward and ask us how could they help.

Yesterday we talked about many things during four hours. But we didn't talk about everything. There's so much to do!!!

I can advance that we are going to give more importance to the NGO in our blog, explaining the process we are designing for the selection of NGO's projects, and how you will be able of choosing where the money will be applied.

And we will also create a page for "volunteers" where you could read about what we would like to do and where we would like you to help.

Do not forget about us this weekend and thanks for all!!! :)

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Yes!!! We do have a bank account!!!

Here I am again with a great new. Finally, we do have a bank account for you to make the donations!!!

We want to thank La Caixa they have been incredibly agile to solve this handicap in a blink of an eye. They have more than 5,000 offices all over Spain what give us a huge proximity to people within the country.

There are a lot of donors already, and many more who know about this initiative (more than 500€ in donations, 6,000 visits to the blog, ... ). This the right time for everybody to go for it.

This is quite simple. Who does not have two euros or three dollars? Every single Facebook or Twitter user can make such a donation. If you are reading this blog by the first time, don't feel this doesn't have anything to do with you because I have written this for you: we want you to take part of this. What are we going to achieve will be a record and only happens once in a life. But above all, you are going to relief the tragedy of the people in the horn of Africa. With three dollar only. And the best part of it, they will be grateful for the rest of their lives. That will make you feel really good.

Day 11, 773.51€

Morning everyone!!!

As you can see, good news about donations. We are in our way to the goal taking into account our calculations, and we are closed to the middle of our this week objective of 1,500€. Moreover, we have received the first donation from a company, Freelance SCM, already added to the donors list, of course.

When I thought on this initiative I get to the conclusion I would like that people managing the initiative would make a very efficient use of my two euros donation. That's why we decided to reflect that conditions in our legal constitution document. All people involved in this project don't have any kind of economical compensation and we only use communication and marketing resources that are either free or donated.

Anyway, the most important piece for the expansion of our message is you. Our network growth is based on the assumption that every single person who donates becomes part of the initiative. They can help us talking about it to their relatives, friends, acquaintances for them to take part of this as well. Transmit the willing of helping. We're going to change the world. This is the time!!!

Day 10, 477.61€

Good morning everybody!

Wednesday has been bank holiday in Spain! Visits and donations have decrease by that circumstance as it happened last weekend. Nevertheless, we have collected 66.91€, increased the number of followers in Facebook and Twitter and, the most important news, the team has also incorporated a new member. That give us more capacity to do more things! Everything counts and put us closer to the goal! There are only 248€ left to reach the initial week objective, 726€, but we doubled it... Will we achieve it?

There a key issue we have solved yet, the availability of a bank account. In fact, we are still fighting with the public administration to get a temporal identification number. With that number, to get the bank account will be much easier. We are trying other alternatives in parallel but we have found a good one yet. Any suggestion? If you have, please, send them to contact (at) 90mn90d.com. This is the only thing that is not working as good as we desire but hopefully will be solved soon.

Not having a bank account avoids many people from making donation and they are waiting for the availability of the transfer method for not having fees nor using PayPal. These last days we have lowered our communication activities for that too. So we are still very optimistic an dwhen we do have a bank account we will accelerate all processes and hope to have a higher rate of donations per day.

Besides telling you about we are doing, I think it is good to remember why we do this, and that we can not delay anything. I ask you to empathize with the political, social, cultural, economical, health and weather context of people who are suffering the famine. In Spain and many other developed countries we are also having troubles, but fortunately for us, both situations are not comparable. Search in the Internet I you will conclude the same. I do not want to show pictures or videos about the tragedy, it is not necessary.

Regarding NGO's we will derive the money, we will make a selection of organizations that are already working in the area, with guarantees enough and interesting projects, and we will offer you all the possibility of voting where do you want your money to be applied.

Before closing, I would like to thank the incredible team is being created. It is amazing the energy, commitment and quality of everyone. They keep on exceeding my expectations. This Friday or Saturday, intense coordination meeting.

Tomorrow, more and better!

Day 9, 410.70€

Good morning everybody!

Yesterday we received 10 new donations for a total of 62.45€. Up to date, we have had donations from 2€ (a lot) up to 60€ (only one). The average donation amount is 6€. Thanks a lot to you all!

The web has also received almost 1,200 visit and the number of followers of the blog and Facebook has increased significantly. And that's important because everyday the number of people joined to the initiative is higher, and we all are the ones that help to fight the famine the most, talking about it with our close friends. Thank you very much for this too!

Yesterday at 11:00am the newspaper 20minutos (20minutes) posted our story: "Objective: collect 90 million euros in 90 days for Africa". That gave us great diffusion and that's why we received a higher number of hits and followers. Thank you very much 20minutes for considering as some noticeable.

Two more people have shown interest in take active part in our team, a producer of the radio station Punto Radio contacted us to arrange an interview today at 19:30, a NGO has offered help to solve some of our present handicaps in this initial stage, and we held a videoconference with Irene García Martínez y José María Batalla ("El Mundo al Revés" de Havás Media) who defined six points of action to support us. Again, thanks a lots for your support and collaboration!

Everyday we are increase the team and collaborators, everyday with higher illusion and motivation, the unstoppable snowball effect of the social media is starting to be real, thanks to you that are incorporating more and more people to this aid project. Keep on going on, we are in the right track!

For remembering and spreading the initiative, and for everyone you tell about it as well, we have created los "solidollars". Take a look and print clicking here. You can print as many as you want and give whomever you want. Money is solidary, you can print as much as you want and there's always more! We hope you like it :)

For three dollars...

Day 8, 358.91€ (Day 14 Objective: 1.500€)

Good Morning!

As we mentioned yesterday in twitter, we will post every morning summarizing the news for the day before and the amount of donations collected.

This weekend we have been organizing everything a little bit. It now have a list of 43 tasks and we are starting to accomplish them. Some of them already done, like blog translation, creation of an internal communication forum, writing a press release, contacting with friends in mass media... and Lucas Rodríguez Pérez, corporate branding expert, has designed and donated our new logo! It will be soon available in the blog.

Something very concrete we are already running is a collaboration with "The World Upside Down" from Havas Media Group. Yesterday we were talking with them thanks to the interview in Gestiona Radio, in the program "Leaders". Today a 16:00 we have our  first meeting with them via Skype. They are such a wonderful and positive people!

We also know many of you are waiting for us to give you a bank account to donate and we are focused on that. As soon as we have the account number we will let you know.

We have a BIG objective, to help A LOT to fight the famine in Africa. And to explain the geometrical growth that the social media could have, we have split the global objective and defined different stages to be covered every week. Starting from the 250€ collected the first week, we should follow a growing rate of 2,9 times weekly. The objectives would be:

Objective
To collect during the week
Week 1
250

Week 2
726
476
Week 3
2,109
1,383
Week 4

Week 13
90,000,000
59,010,305

But for this week we have decided to double the expected donations because the initiative deserves it. We will try to close this week with 1,500€.

I am thinking "How are we going to collect 90 million during the last weeks of the year? December, Christmas, Globalization, ... carrying out charity marathons at TV all over the world? We don't know how yet, nothing agreed with anybody either, but we are doing our best to achieve it.

Donate 2 euros or 3 dollars. Donate clicking here and tell your closer friends.

Day 7, 288.38€

Good night everybody!

We have beaten the number of donations record, sixteen! There are already 46 people and 3 companies that have made their donation. Other people and companies are interested in doing it but they are waiting, for example, to have a bank account to make a wire transfer.

We have reached 3,400 visits by now and we are already 7 people in the team.

We keep on working against the famine in Africa.

Thanks!

How are we going to achieve it?

I have seen that we are mentioned in Menéame, and there is a comment I like: "I don't want to be pessimistic but for being in a good progression you should get a million euros per day. You have 138 euros in five days. Why don't you change the name to '3,000 euros in 90 days?' That seems more realistic arithmetically speaking". Well, today we should say 3,500€ already...

To achieve our goal we have to grow following a geometric progression. Social media allow that and if the present growth keeps the same rhythm -over a 50% per day- we would reach the goal in less than 37 days.

We believe that what we are proposing will grow in a geometrical progression because:
  • Donation amount is very low and everyone that uses a social network can give three dollars once in their live. Key 1: every internet user can afford small donations.
  • Every donor can ask their families and close friends to do the same. It is a very honorable cause, to save lives. With such a small donation, how can you deny to do it? Key 2: saying no is not to be a person.
  • From our side, we have to put it very simple for everyone to be able to donate. At the moment, we only have PayPal and we are running as much as we can to provide other means. It can be done from the section "Donate" of our blog, surfing even with a mobile phone. It works smooth. If you have a smartphone you can donate immediately. Key 3: Easy donation methods.
  • We need every donor to be a speaker. That's the reason for the badge. Using it, the growth from every donor can be exponential. Key 4: Every donor is part of the initiative.
  • Finally, we want to plant seeds all over the world. Access far contacts for them to start with this initiative in other regions of the world. We also need some people with social impact (with lots of followers in Twitter, for example) to support us. We are translating everything into english. Key 5: Global expansion.
These are the main points. We are convinced we are going to achieve it. We are going to use anything we have at reach and what other people provide us to save Africa between all of us.

We are people who want to save other people's lives. Thanks for being here and take part of this.

Day 6, 235.42€

Today, we have received donations from 7 people for more than 100€ in total, a new record!!!

This morning we have been defining task and objectives. We need to maintain this explosive growth, over 50% daily, to reach the goal. We need more help, not only donations, but something more.We need to launch several lines of action, we need volunteers and opinions.

First of all, it is key to keep on growing that every single donor put the badge in their picture profiles and convince other to do the same. If you haven't put it yet, please, click on this link.

Specific lines of action:
  • International Expansion:
    • We need someone to translate contents into english.
    • We are looking for people interested in leading the initiative in other cities of the world, cloning the model we have already started in Spain.
  • National Expansion:
    • Find ambassadors in the realms of arts, sports, business, ... Their function will be to donate the usual 3 dollars (2 euros) and communicate that they are part of this initiative. They don't get trapped with us forever. We are doing this only for once in our lives and this ends the 31th of December. A second try will not work. They only give the money and tell others. We need their popularity and, if they want, we will write their names in our web. Are you one of them? Do you know any that would be willing to participate?
    • We have been once in a radio station but we want to be many more. In radio, newspapers, TV. Can anyone help us? We have prepared a Press release, and our constitution documents explain very well who we are and what we do.
If any can help us with this action, please, contact with us at contact (at) 90mn90d.com

Changing theme, I like to share some reflections that have lead me to launch this initiative. It is true that there is a devastator problem of famine and death in the horn of Africa, affecting to more than 13 million people last month, but I could haven't done anything. When I had this idea I thought: aren't you too busy? You are going to complicate your life too much... I could have found thousands of excuses for not doing it. You can also find thousands of excuses for not donating immediately. I don't regret at all. This is an unique and fascinating experience we are living and being part of it is very energizing. Thanks to all who are already in. And to all who have just decided to be. We are just people who want to save other people's lives.

Day 5, 130.44€

90 days, almost 13 weeks, 90 million. Yesterday we closed with 130.44€

Yesterday afternoon we were @GestionaRadio, in the program @LideresGestiona, talking about the initiative we all are part of (it is your initiative too). Finally, our appearance started at 20:31. Here you have the audio recording: Gestiona Radio: Líderes (20 to 21h) (10/07/2011)

We thank specially Francisco Serra, from Havas Media, his offer and donation. On Monday we will contact him to analyze how we can collaborate.

Every day means a new record from the previous one. But that doesn't mean anything. This is only the beginning. When we reach the 90 million we will have grown a million times.

We have received 28 donations, but we are more donor. Our responsibility is to ask those 3$ to everyone we have around and to make them to become new motors of the initiative. We have already surpassed the 100€ almost without noticing it, we have been in a radio program, founded an association... Yesterday, in our way to the radio station, Ricardo told me: "Impossible is nothing, Nike", and I replied "Where is the limit?, Josef Ajram".

This is an fascinating adventure and together we are going to save a lot of lives. You are invited to be part of this. The journey only costs three dollars. Donate!

Day 5, 86.06€

Good afternoon!

As you see, the donations score has moved only a little bit. These are the bad news. The main point is that we have received our first international donation from Chile.

I want you to remember that this initiative started on Monday at 19 hours, and up to date we have:
  • collected 86.06€ in 17 donations, 9 from relatives and close friends,
  • received 2,000 visits in our website,
  • put 10 badges in the profile pictures,
  • and gathered 11 followers of the blog.
 And we have also:
  • configured a team of 6 people. Welcome Sergio Cámara! And we have active and very valuable collaborators like Bubble Dad or Nilda Cerna, among others. And many more are willing to collaborate when we figure out how,
  • defined and signed our constitution statement for the non-profit association "90 million in 90 days",
  • created and maintained active participation in the blog, twitter and facebook,
  • and prepared a presentation of the initiative for a radio interview (Gestiona Radio, today at 20:20)
It would be an important milestone to close the week with 100€ (at the end of Sunday), and we are pretty close...

What are we doing next?

We are facing the demanding task of collecting 89,999,900 euros. It would be fantastic to reduce a figure from that amount every week. For that purpose we are thinking about:
  • translating the blog into english (any volunteers? contact-at-90mn90d.com),
  • provide a bank account for you to order transfers,
  • analyzing different possibilities to create a "Nuez" initiative, create a global network of activists, organize a charity poker event, ask people to send picture of anything that worths 2€, face the corporate segment, upload videos in Youtube, create actions to massively spread the initiative in the social media (suggestions to contact-at-90mn90d.com), search for ambassadors (famous personalities), ... some of them are already in progress,
  • develop creativity sessions to define new actions,
  • define the criteria we will use for the selection of the NGO's that will received the money and ask your opinion,
  • and, obviously, get organized!
But the most important thing: if you visit our blog and you don't donate two euros (or three dollars), or you ask someone for the money and they don't collaborate, tell us why. That feedback will provide us information to improve our message and strategy to reach the goal: gather 90 million euros to fight against the famine in the horn of Africa. Any suggestion of improvement will be very welcome.

Day 4, 83.51€

Good evening!

A bit statistics to start with:

1,660 visits in total. Daily visits increasing and that's thanks to you. But we want donations to increase as well, which haven't done it. It is important that every donor feels part of the initiative. Firstly, because they are, they have donated. Secondly, because they will feel with the right of ask others those three dollars. With that we also create awareness and sensitivity about that big issue although it is a bit far away. And finally, because they feel the right of asking new donors to do the same.

For that goal, the badge is quite important. It shows that you have donated or supported in a concrete way, but make people asking about it. And you will feel very well when you say you have already donated.

Apart from these good news, this thing is very alive and we have another surprise.

Thanks to Ricardo García Arenillas (one of our team members) we will have our first appearance in media. Tomorrow, at 20:20, Ricardo García Arenillas and myself will be interviewed in the program called "Leaders" in Gestiona Radio. This station can be heard through Internet or in the dials shown in its website http://web.gestionaradio.com/

We keep on going!
