Day 21, €2,592.29 Unfulfilled objective

Good afternoon everyone!

First of all, we must apologize. It’s been a hectic day and we didn’t have the opportunity to post this before.

As you all may see, we’re far away from the objective we aimed to achieve, €4,000. Many comments can be made about this. Let us start with bad news: only a 65% of the intended sum has been accomplished. An explanation of this is the fact that we, being excited about last week’s success, have set a really ambitious goal. Another reason is that some fields are being structured more slowly than we’d like to (firms, international, volunteering). Not to forget an administrative process, intended to receive considerable donations, which is still to be solved.
Along came good news: on the one hand, the quantity set for week 3 has been raised (total: € 2,109). On the other, the fact of us not being able to raise the auto-imposed amount has injected us a huge dose of energy and willingness to keep on working! We hope so has done with you!
We’ve started the week really willingly. Why? Because an article about our initiative has been published on the blog 3.500 millones of the Spanish newspaper El País. Varignia Montalbetty has kindly illustrated it with a beautiful picture of Africa. I bet El Pais is happy about the article, since it has received a good number of visits from readers. And of course, we are happy too, because the number of people aware of this problem and keen to help with their €2 is increasing unstoppably!
Today the number of visits in our blog has gone beyond 2000, and the number of facebook and twitter followers doesn’t stop increasing! Bugamark has written about us on its main page; we’ve been really talked about on twitter this morning (If only we were tending toping once…); two mass media have contacted us to write a piece of information about us; there are 21 people comprising this team now; people from Colombia have offered to set up a campaign in their country; we are quite close to set an agreement with a NGO…  The bases needed to grow up are being established! However, we’re missing a sportsman/woman, singer actor/actress willing to help us.

We’re enormously thankful to every single person who’s decided to click on the “donate” button above. These little steps are making history!

Before ending, I’d just like to remind you that, once your donation is credited, it is vital to tell the people around you (either in internet or in real life) about this initiative. Let them know the problem and then suggest them clicking too if they wish to do so.

Thanks so much for your trust.
